This painting is seen through the eyes of Copernicus who discovered that the earth revolves around the Sun. This was astronomical (pun intended), and seemed almost as if a betrayal was happening in which the celestial beings cherished the Sun more than the human race.

Healing can be like a mess of colors, some swirling together, some mixing, some clashing, and some standing out. True peace comes when we step into the healing process and embrace the colors.

Music is peace for me. I painted the world with music notes swirling around it to represent people holding hands. Music has the power to connect and create harmony in this world. I painted the song “It Is Well” because it brings me peace and reminds me that no matter what happens God is in control and it will all work out.

What gives me peace is trusting God with my worries. I tried to represent the feeling of surrendering control to God through my paint strokes and shading. The image is a hand with colors flowing out to represent anxiety, worry, and the weight of the world being released to God. Painting on wood was such a freeing process and I am glad I tried something new.
